Full rehabilitation of a dilapidated Victorian in Jack London Square. BuildZig worked with the owner’s of restaurant/pub on the first floor to keep the business operating during construction. The structure will be re-purposed into 4 luxury apartment units.

Scope of Work: Complete rehabilitation of a vacant church with a focus on saving as many historical features as possible, including the façade. The structure will be re-purposed as 6 residential units.

Took an existing single family home with limited on-site parking and entitled the building into 14 apartments, while keeping within the guidelines of ADA and historic preservation requirements. Worked with the city of Oakland to exempt the units from the rent board requirements. Acted as Construction Manager as well. The project received an award from the Oakland Heritage Alliance.

BuildZig was excited to take on this project because of the long term impact it stands to have on the neighborhood. The project was developed as a monument to the area’s rich heritage by preserving as much of the original architecture and features as possible.
